Membership is currently FREE.
A. Membership & Monthly Fee
Folks membership is currently free of charge. Registration is required for all members and remains free while Folks builds out its full calendar of Signature experiences, anchor activities, and partner network.
Membership is personal and non-transferable to another individual. This does not apply to individual booking transfers for Signature experiences, which are permitted under Section C.
Members who attend at least 2-3 activities during this free period will be offered a special Founding Member rate of RM19/month once Folks introduces membership pricing. Members who do not meet this threshold remain welcome to continue as members at the standard rate in effect at that time.
Folks will provide at least 30 days' advance notice before introducing any membership fee or adjusting membership pricing thereafter.
Continued participation after a pricing notice constitutes acceptance of the fee then in effect.
Upon cancellation or termination of membership, member access to benefits (WhatsApp community, priority booking where applicable, and partner benefit programmes) ends at the close of the current billing cycle, or immediately if no fee is then in effect.
Members who cancel and rejoin within 12 months of cancellation will be reinstated at whichever Founding Member rate they had originally qualified for, rather than any standard rate in effect at the time of rejoining.
Folks retains member data for record-keeping and legal compliance purposes for a reasonable period after cancellation, in accordance with the Data Protection & Privacy section.
B. Activity Pricing & Booking
All members and registered attendees pay individually for each activity they choose to book, at the price shown on the activity listing.
Activity fees are paid at the time of booking via the payment method provided.
A companion attending their first Signature experience is entitled to RM20 off, or RM20 off an anchor activity instead, as detailed on the Membership page and in Section I (Referral Programme).
C. Booking & Member Cancellation
Regular Activities (anchor sessions, e.g. coffee social, wellness)
All bookings must be made via the Folks booking channel at least 48 hours before the session.
Cancellations made more than 48 hours before a session: full refund.
Cancellations made within 48 hours of the session start time: no refund.
No-shows (failure to attend without prior cancellation) are non- refundable.
Folks Signature Experiences (e.g. flagship dining, workshop, and curated events)
Signature experiences require Folks to commit payment to partners in advance, so cancellation terms are stricter:
7 or more days before the event: full refund, minus payment processing fees.
Less than 7 days before the event: no refund.
Bookings for Signature experiences may be transferred to another person (e.g. a spouse, friend, or another member) at no charge, at any time before the event, by notifying Folks via WhatsApp.
D. Session Postponement & Changes by Folks
Folks reserves the right to postpone, reschedule, or cancel any activity session due to insufficient bookings (below minimum pax), vendor unavailability, force majeure, or safety concerns.
In the event of a Folks-initiated cancellation, affected members will be notified at least 3 days in advance where possible, and will receive a full refund or the option to transfer their payment to an alternative session.
Folks is not liable for any inconvenience, travel costs, or losses arising from session postponements or cancellations.
Minimum Participation:
Each activity has a minimum number of participants (MOQ) required for the session to proceed, as stated on the individual activity listing at the time of booking.
If the minimum is not met by the booking cutoff, Folks reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the session. Affected members will be notified in accordance with Section E (Session Postponement & Changes by Folks), and will receive a full refund or the option to transfer to an alternative session.
E. Photography & Media Consent
Folks may photograph or record sessions for community updates, social media, and marketing materials.
By joining Folks, members consent to being photographed during activities for these purposes, unless a written opt-out request is submitted to Folks prior to the session.
Members who prefer not to be photographed must notify Folks in writing (WhatsApp or email) at least 24 hours before the session. Folks will make reasonable efforts to accommodate this request.
Member-submitted photos shared in Folks WhatsApp groups or channels may be used by Folks with reasonable attribution.
F. Data Protection & Privacy
By joining Folks, members consent to the collection, use, and storage of their personal data (including name, contact details, date of birth, and emergency contact information) for the purposes of processing membership, managing bookings, and communicating with members, in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010.
Members who have opted in to receive marketing communications may withdraw consent at any time by notifying Folks via WhatsApp or email.
Folks does not sell or share member data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Members may request access to, or correction of, their personal data held by Folks by contacting hello@folksclub.com.
G. Liability Waiver - Physical Activities
Please read this section carefully before participating in any physical activity.
Participation in all physical activities organised by Folks (including but not limited to yoga, Tai Chi, fitness sessions, outdoor activities, and spa or wellness treatments) is entirely voluntary and at the member's own risk.
Members confirm that they are in adequate physical health to participate in the activities they choose to book, and have sought medical advice where appropriate.
Folks, its co-founders, staff, and vendor partners are not liable for any personal injury, illness, accident, loss of personal property, or medical event arising from participation in any Folks activity.
Members with pre-existing medical conditions are strongly advised to consult their physician before participating in any physical activity.
Folks reserves the right to deny participation to any member whose health condition, in the reasonable assessment of the session facilitator, poses a risk to themselves or others.
H. Referral Programme
A companion attending Folks for the first time must register as a member before participating in any activity. Their first Signature experience comes with RM20 off, or they may apply this toward an anchor activity instead.
Referral rewards for members who bring in 3-4 new members who remain active for at least 2 consecutive months: guaranteed Founding Member rate (RM19/month) when membership pricing begins, regardless of the referring member's own activity attendance.
Referral rewards for 5 or more such referrals: the Founding Member rate is retained for as long as the member remains active, along with recognition as a Folks Founding Ambassador.
Folks reserves the right to amend referral reward structures with reasonable notice to members.
I. General Provisions
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia.
Folks reserves the right to amend these T&Cs at any time with 14 days' notice.
Membership may be terminated by either party with 30 days' written notice. No pro-rata refund applies.
Continued use of membership after notice of changes constitutes acceptance.
Members with a complaint or concern should contact Folks directly via WhatsApp (+6017-343 3035) or email (hello@folksclub.com) in the first instance. Folks aims to acknowledge all complaints within 3 business days.
